Schedule of chess events in North Wales
We hope to add further events in the not to distant future to stimulate interest in our great sport.
Chess playing, especially in the Junior age groups should be encouraged and supported in North Wales.
We hope to stage simultaneous and rapid play events locally in North Wales in conjunction with the local Chess Clubs and other interested organisations.
We acknowledge the support of several key individuals Chess Clubs, who have underwritten this event and look forward to their continued involvement in future Rhyl Chess Congresses.

Geoff Graham
Geoff Graham, a current member of the Rhyl & Prestatyn Chess Club, is the event Director and can be reached on info@rhylchesscongress.co.uk
Geoff has been an avid chess player all his life, having been taught by his father as a young boy.
Very competitive during adolescence, Geoff rose to play top board in the London Middlesex county team and in 1967 won the open Junior Southern England County Championships.
The September 2026 57th Rhyl Chess Congress, is our first offering and hope that the event will be enthusiastically supported.
Participation in Chess Congresses, I believe, improves one's game in many aspects and would encourage all potential competitive players to hone their skills by winning and losing games in Congresses. We are fortunate in the U.K. to be able to compete in this friendly format.
